The 1967’s Diesel Multiple Units were imported from Japan, manufactured by the Hitachi corporation. The total number of these units in Pakistan was 34, with 94 passenger trailers.
Pakistan Railways operated these as rail cars from its major railway stations from 1967 to 1994, mainly from Rawalpindi to Lahore, Rawalpindi to Peshawar, Rawalpindi to Kundian, Lahore to Multan, amongst others.
These rail cars were a favourite, and used by most passengers for their daily commute to work. You can find one still intact at a locomotive shed in Rawalpindi. Did you or your parents ever travel on one of these?
